Ride The Karoo: A Beautiful Glow In The Heart Of The Karoo
A couple of weekends ago, we packed up the lights and hit the open road, destination: Dwarsvlei Guest Farm, right in the heart of the Karoo.
Ride the Karoo isn’t just another mountain bike event. It’s a three-day stage race that feels more like a gathering of kindred spirits than a competition. It’s moer koffie and koeksisters at dawn, sheepdogs weaving through the mist, Baxter the golden retriever wagging his tail as riders roll in, and long-table dinners where strangers become friends before the yummy Malva Pudding is even ready.
Lighting the Way Through the Karoo Night
As the sun dipped behind the dusty hills and the cool evening air began to roll in, our lights flickered to life, softly, quietly, just enough to guide the way.
We used our connectable 10m LED Festoon Retro Bulb String Lights to frame the gathering spots, creating that signature golden glow that feels warm, nostalgic, and a little bit magical. Around the camping areas and pathways, our Solar-Powered LED String Lights took over, soaking up that Karoo sun during the day and glowing effortlessly through the night.
The result? A campsite that shimmered softly in the desert night, the kind of glow that invites laughter, shared stories, and one more gin cocktail before bed.
Where Every Detail Shines
From Hope Distillery Gin cocktails and ice-cold Labora Beers to the heartfelt touches that Urban Goat Events poured into every detail, it was an event built on love, community, and connection. Even when the skies opened up and the rain came down, the energy never faltered.
We were also lucky enough to meet the wonderful team from Kakiebos Van Nou Af and see our lights adding a touch of sparkle to their pop-up space, and let’s just say, their merch looked amazing.
One of our favourite moments was during dinner, when @stanandrews gave us the kindest shoutout and ended with, “Let us be the light in your life.” We’ll never forget that. ????
