All You Need To Know About Easy Budget Lighting Setup

Meet Doug, who has set up lights at his house in Cape Town

Meet Doug, a somewhat young and resourceful individual who is always on the lookout for innovative ways to enhance his living space without breaking the bank. Doug lives in a cosy cottage with a small garden and pool that he dreams of turning into a magical oasis of light and greenery. As the South African sun sets, he envisions a tranquil retreat where he can unwind after a long day, surrounded by friends and the gentle glow of lights.

Ever since he was a child, Doug had been fascinated by the transformative power of light. He loves how a simple string of bulbs could turn an ordinary space into something magical. However, his passion comes with a challenge. Our Doug is strapped for time and on a tight budget.

Regardless, he is determined to make his vision a reality, but given the situation, he knows he’ll have to get creative. Armed with his passion for DIY projects, he sets out on a mission to transform his garden into a budget-friendly paradise.

First, Doug scours the internet for affordable string lights, carefully comparing prices and reviews until he finds the perfect set within his budget. With his lights secured, he turns his attention to the garden. How is he supposed to set these lights up before his friends arrive?

Using the old screws in the cement wall for holding up his pot plants and R20 cable ties, our Doug gets to work. Simply attaching the string with the screws via cable ties he is able to set up 30m worth of Vintage bulb string lights from his balcony to his garden wall.

As the weekend approaches, Doug excitedly gathers his snacks and supplies for the braai and heads out to his garden area. With the Webber lit and the soft glow of the vintage string lights in the air, his garden is ready.

Doug watched with a smile full of content as friends and family slowly arrived, their faces lighting up with delight at the sight of his handiwork. The garden had been transformed into a magical oasis, filled with the soft twinkle of vintage lights strung artfully among the wall and upper balcony. The sizzling flicker of the Weber grill added warmth and the mouth-watering aroma of braai delights to the air. Laughter and conversation flowed freely as his companions admired the cosy, inviting atmosphere he had created. It was a perfect evening, one that reminded Doug why he loved these DIY projects so much.

Finally, once his guests had left and he settles into bed, Doug couldn’t be happier with the transformation. With his vintage string lights illuminating the night, he knows that he’s created something truly special – a little slice of paradise that he and his friends and family can enjoy for years to come, all without breaking the bank.
